In parenting, sometimes "wrong" is worth the funny...

Dateline Thursday: I was sitting in the front seat of the minivan with 3 teenage girls sitting in the back, enjoying (gossiping, eating, discussing their hair, anything but) the drive-in movie. I had planned to bring my super-comfy camping chair and (nod off) watch Transformers 3 (never saw the first two except to figure out why R was so glued to the screen... answer: Megan Fox). Sadly, a biblical rain event meant I was stuck in the front seat, watching the other movie (because that's where the front of the car was facing) which was Cars 2*. So... I was listening to the sound from Transformers 3 and watching Cars 2. It was confusing on many levels. The girls, not being particularly involved in the movie, would occasionally stop yakking and say something along the lines of "OMG. I totally don't get this movie! What's going on?" I mostly ignored them but at one point I answered, "I'm not sure, but someone just called Lightning McQueen a dick!"

Apparently, that was so freakin' funny that it needed to be repeated for the rest of (my natural life) the night. Then, when C got up the next day, she told her little bro and sis, and so on and so on and so on... And the sad fact is I laugh every single time someone yells "Lightning McQueen is a dick!" -- See? Worth the funny.

This just might explain the almost universal lack of invitation to join the Junior League, PTO, mommy book group, or, you know... pretty much everything else. And still... totally worth the funny.

Mr. K is so very proud (but he totally laughs deep down inside where it counts).

*I have a special (bad) place in my heart for the Cars franchise because I saw the first one on my birthday many years ago (ironically, at the drive in) and started having a bad reaction to some medication I was taking and had a pretty nasty anxiety attack that eventually led to an early morning trip to the emergency room. Talking cars still make me jittery.
