The power of clean carpets

You know that "Ack! I can't get any work done until the house is clean and I can't clean the house until my work is done and oh yeah I need to take the dog in for shots and I haven't cleared out the garden and I need to donate those old toys and clothes and Ack!!" feeling that (in my case) degenerates into giving in to defeat, grabbing a snack and a drink, and plopping down on the couch with none of the priorities scratched off the list?

If not, good for you. I may be feeling a tad jealous right now.

So today I decided to put aside all of the conflicting priorities, decide on something to do and keep going until it got done. I'm now thoroughly enjoying a clean, tidy, freshly vacuumed, and decidedly less dog butt-scented lower level of the house. It feels great.

I'm now tempted to start cleaning the main level. Luckily, I've sworn off of giving in to temptation. Oh yeah, and I have to get to that work priority that has failed to get a foothold on the top of my priority list.

My perennials are starting to emerge from the tangle of last year's growth. It makes me crazy happy. Later today I'm going to donate a bunch of near-new stuffed animals and outgrown clothes I unearthed while cleaning last week. I even finished The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest which had been on my list of things I must finish before I can do anything else (see how that works? soooo productive, no?). The book was great. I've also done a little reading over at mnmlst. I'm not about to adopt a completely minimal lifestyle but I must admit the ideas appeal to me.

Gotta keep the momentum going....

  1. Go, go Gadget GO! Seems like it was productive across the country today! I got working on the stairs. Freakin stairs. Next time I have such a brilliant idea could you just tell me to relax? Thank you.

Glad you got rid of the dog butt smell. That must have been nasty!

  2. Relax. The ugly stairs will be there tomorrow :)

I'm afraid it was really more of a dog+cat+human+frog+sheep+crayfish butt smell but one of the main reasons Mr. K wanted a dog was to have someone to blame for bad smells so you know... I followed suit.
