Hi! How's your break going? Awesome.
We're getting a couple of rabbits and a couple of chickens (I know...) this Spring so we've spent all kinds of time planning their habitats, changing our minds, and planning again. It's nice to approach the "chicken thing" again with the benefit of experience. We've decided we're not interested in being in the egg business - an egg or two a day is plenty in exchange for being able to have a couple of sweet hens instead of a full-blown posse of pecking, pooping fury. We'll see. The rabbits are destined for a well-shaded home cozied up to the west side of the house. I guess we all know what Mr. K will be doing with his free time between now and the last snowstorm of the year...
Also, we're now that family. Thanks to generous grandparents, the kids each scored a tidy stash of Christmas money and through a little bit of musical chairs, R sold his Nook Color to C for a "steal" and then he and A both bought Nook Tablets. So now, the kids hang out together, each with their Nook, challenging each other in games, watching Netflix, and (occasionally) reading. Our WiFi is getting a serious workout, and I may possibly need to check into some kind of Scrabble detox program. I do love a good word game (or 500).
So far, break has gone surprisingly well - with one exception... behold, a salt and vinegar potato chip cautionary tale:
When all that is consumed by a young person's stomach for a couple of days in a row is a metric ton of Sea Salt and Vinegar Dirty Chips, a series of chemical reactions occur that produce a brand of flatulence that may be the U.S military's latest and greatest defense against invasion. It's baaaaad, y'all. Like, open the windows no matter how cold it is bad.
The kids have been swimming, we've all been staying up too late, and I'm just almost nearly awfully close to deciding that it's time to start eating well (as in vegetables well, not tiramisu well) again.
Hope (and tater chip farts) spring eternal.
