As much as I looked forward to having a backtalking slacker of a middle school student, my eldest is a huge disappointment. In the past 10 days she was selected as student of the month, got a spot in the (selective) talent show (and killed it), got a drawing selected for the district art show, and won the school poetry contest.
Her response? When the dog was jumping on her after school today she said, "Look Mom, she can smell the victory!"
Otherwise, she's been really low key about all of it because she lives in a certain amount of fear (annoyance?) of the backlash she is now and will continue to experience at school.
Screw 'em I say - success is the best revenge.
Oh, and she's pretty too! What a wonderful combination. I love her poem. I'm having one of those days. You might want to frame that 'cause I think it's applicable no matter where you are in life.
