pre-Birthday prep, a gem, and dog psychology

Tomorrow is the hubby's birthday. He'll be 43. He got carded a couple of weeks ago (seriously). While, for most of us, that would be celebration enough, I can't help doing at least a little something. Today I'm making goodies for him to take to the office (because seriously, why should he be spared the joy of an office birthday party?). Tomorrow night (before heading to the drive-in with C and a friend to see Eclipse), I'll be making tostadas and pico de gallo. Please don't ever let him know how easy it is to make - I appreciate that his "favorite meal" takes all of 30 minutes to prepare.

A gem.

This morning, the dog popped out of bed, went outside through her new dog door, came back in, and then went into the basement playroom and pooped on the floor. Grrrrr... Then I went upstairs to wake up the kids and it seems that on the way from the BACK YARD to the playroom, she also made two little pee puddles. That's not a bathroom break, that's some kind of revenge. Too bad she can't just yell at me and call it good.

Last day of June... why does it feel like summer's almost over?
