Day 1
After a freakishly early wake-up and very dark drive to the airport, we flew to Seattle, got our rental car, managed to find Pike Place Market, became quickly overwhelmed by the crowds and chaos, and decided to head for the Olympic peninsula ASAP. I'm sure I would enjoy many things about Seattle if I had some insider knowledge but I don't so I didn't. The ferry ride to Bainbridge Island was chilly and rainy but fun and kinda pretty.
The drive from the end of the ferry to Sequim was probably really nice, too, but our buck-early morning and a lack of food had us all a little bleary-eyed. We stopped for an excessively greasy breakfast, went to the grocery store, and found our little cabin by the pond on a lavender farm. It was nothing terribly fancy but it was clean, well-equipped (gotta love a kitchen on vacation, especially with kids!), and quiet (all except for the bullfrog).
We wandered around the farm a little, made some dinner, argued over who would sleep where and, once settled, fell asleep quickly.
