Pam, Steve, and Shoebuckle

While we were on our walk along the railroad path on our vacation, A hollered "Look! A shoebuckle!" I looked around and saw nothing. Then, hanging pretty high up on a branch of one of the many trees was a torn remnant of the buckle strap from a kid's Mary Jane shoe. For the rest of the hike (vacation) I called her Shoebuckle. We talked about one of the advantages of going on vacation is that no one knows who you are and so I thought it was appropriate that all 3 kids had aliases. So, we became Mom, Bob, Pam, Steve, and Shoebuckle. I don't know why I didn't get an alias but sometimes I just have to roll with it. Perhaps the funniest part of our adopted aliases was that R despised his the most -- "Who would ever choose to be called Steve... ick?!" Um... OK, but you know your little sister is "Shoebuckle," right?

Seemed like a perfectly acceptable name to him. None of the other aliases stuck but my youngest will forever be a little bit A and a little bit Shoebuckle.

On another note...

Happy first day of school to my Ohio readers! An especially big high five to an especially adorable boy in possession of impressive adult-manipulating big-eyed grin potential - have a great first day of kindergarten and tell your mom "it's five o'clock somewhere" - she'll know what I mean!

  1. A big "hey!" to Shoebuckle, Pam, Steve (love that) and Bob. Nice Alias'

You almost made me cry - alright, you did. Having back-to-school anxiety! Mr. Big eyed grin hasn't started yet. Tomorrow is his first day and undoubtedly he'll do marvelously (just like Shoebuckle, they've got that knack). Mr. S is the one I worry about and though I don't have to anymore, he's growing up into a wonderful little boy, I still do. *sigh* Motherhood is not for wussies.
