A lesson in impermanence

Monday was spent washing the slipcovers on my much-loved craigslist-acquired living room couches. Among the many other benefits of having my parents in town, their large-capacity front-loading washer and dryer are moving up the list rapidly (and that's no dig on you, padres... I'm just a practical woman). I have to be honest, my mom ended up doing the majority of the down and dirty stain removal. Turns out she's a bit of a pro - perhaps because she is no longer surrounded with grubby kids and dogs so she doesn't have that stain-blindness that all moms have to acquire simply to remain sane. Anyway, the result was absolutely fabulous. It was so lovely and white that I remembered how much I need to paint the trim and window frames bright white. I hope Benita over at Chez Larsson doesn't think I'm getting too Single White Female on her but I just can't help myself... it's my inner Swede screaming to be let out. (I should mention, I haven't dyed my hair bright blond, acquired a whole wardrobe of clogs, or become insanely organized and capable so there's no need to go into hiding, Benita!)

and then... there was this bone, see... and after several attempts to bury it outside in the ever-so-slightly damp soil, a dirty-muzzled, muddy pawed darling of a dog came inside and...

tried to bury it in the corner of the crispy-white chair. Wax on, wax off or something like that. It was all good between us until I discovered a dog turd in R's room.

Sexy times.

  1. At what point did you just grab a beer and head outside? That's my coping mechanism, well that and a bag of family sized ripple chips....

The slipcovers look awesome. I love white.

  2. Thanks. I love them, too. Luckily she managed to crud out only the cushion covers which fit in my washing machine. I'm not quite sure what the turd was about - maybe the rain or the cold breeze. That dog's a bit of a weather diva!
