My son, the chef.

The post title is inspired by my 7th grader's recent school project on appositives (7th grade pre-AP English... it's a party!). Now back to the matter at hand...

Egg in a Hole. That middle kid o' mine has eaten 8 of them since leaving school on Friday afternoon. The big development is that he so hates to wait the 10 minutes it might take me to get around to making him one that he figured out how to do it for himself.

6:37 this morning? Messy-haired 9 year old boy makes perfect egg in a hole while mom tries to pry surly 12 year old girl from her warm and cozy bed. Once frazzle-headed 12-year old puts on pants and comes downstairs, he asks her, "Can I make you an egg in a hole? It'll just take minute."

12 year old refuses and chooses microwave Eggo Chocolate Chip Pancake instead.

What is this world coming to?

If I manage to catch him in the act, I'll post a detailed tutorial. ***EDIT*** no detailed tutorial but I did snap a picture of the almost-finished product this morning. If you want to cook along, get ye to the store and buy some sourdough bread, spreadable butter, salt, pepper, and eggs. Make sure to take notes. According to Emeril Jr. there is a wrong way to do this.

Happy Monday!
