Most days Mr. K and I work together, get the kids where they need to go, make meals, help with homework, read bedtime stories, do some dishes, wash some clothes, go to work, and get everyone to bed without fully understanding the magnitude of the task we've accomplished on any given day. Today, however, we're marveling at ourselves. I haven't taken a deep breath since about 7:30 this morning, and now that I'm catching the last couple minutes of the Amazing Race and only halfheartedly participating in C's end-of-weekend homework extravaganza, and Mr. K is upstairs reading one of the Warriors books to A, I'm giving us each a little mental pat on the back.
This was only the beginning of the chaos the next few weeks have to offer but it's nice to know we're capable of pulling together when the schedule demands it. It's also nice to know that Grandma and Grandpa are nearby to help when something (or someone) falls through the cracks. A's Halloween costume is adorable. She was the cutest little polarfleece candy corn at the trick or treat street event at a local park today thanks to Grandma's sewing skills and patience (Ooooooh, the patience)! I'd post pictures but it looks like Mr. K forgot to take the camera.
OK, so maybe our machine isn't that well-oiled. Luckily there are about 763 more occasions over the next 7 days for A to don her costume so I'm sure we'll have plenty of photographic evidence.
R got his Halloween costume today. I take back all those nasty things I've said about WalMart... for the low, low price of $19 (and one more sliver of my sanity), he's got the world's coolest glowing-eyed phantom costume a little boy could want.
C performed a killer marimba solo on Friday and we thoroughly enjoyed a celebratory trip to the movies to see a late showing of Secretariat with three of her giggliest friends. Then, last night, after a good study session, it was clear that C needed a study break so we went to see Red with a couple of her "dudes" and one of their moms. It was terribly violent and totally hilarious! I highly recommend both movies.
Yes... I ramble. It's what I do. And you read it. Now who has the problem?
Kisses!
