Irreverence 'R Us

My family loves the Simpsons. For a little while, Mr. K attempted to ban the kids from watching it because he thought it would plant bad ideas in their heads or something. Then he realized that he was kidding himself. I think the whole reason for banning the kids from watching it was so that he could be left alone for a few precious minutes on Sunday night. I can't blame him - it was a valiant effort.

Anyway...

This post has nothing to do with the Simpsons except to say that we enjoy irreverent humor (No, really? I would have never guessed based on your posting of far too many Sassy Gay Friend videos, Robin.)

Yes, really.

My highly irreverent (as in HIGHLY) friend, Laura, sent me a link to this little gem of a blog post. If you need a little encouragement to actually click on the link, here's the title:

The Year Kenny Loggins Ruined Christmas

Um... yes please! FYI, my already-irreverent and deeply disappointed in my handling of nearly every important family festivity ("More glitter, Mom!" and "I didn't say 'lamely pretend to enjoy yourself' I said 'Enjoy yourself', for the love of all things amphibian!" and "Move aside, I'll show you how to decorate a Christmas tree!") youngest child, A, will absolutely write a similar post someday when we allow her to get a google account.

And then she'll get a call from Saturday Night Live or Ellen or Conan (Leno's number is already blocked) praising her rapier wit and they'll offer her a segment of her own. She will, of course, turn them all down and hold out for an offer from Chelsea Handler or Kathy Griffin. They would "get" her, she would tell us.

And those offers would come, equipped with many zeroes.

And her plans for world domination would begin to come together.

And never again would she suffer through one of her Mom's amateurish attempts at holiday cheer.

I have never in my life felt closer to Kenny Loggins.
