Connecting.

One of my little -isms I am exploring this year is to understand how and why I connect with some people and not with others. There are some commonalities among the people I am drawn to. I love funny people. I adore people who are enthusiastic about what they're doing (and I want to run away from those who seem to hate everything about life). I like people who are a little "damaged" -- I don't trust people who try to present a picture of perfection. The most perfect parts of ourselves are hardly ever the most interesting.

I love to talk and I love to listen but I must admit I'm better at the former. So, I was quite taken with this. Give it a read. What do you think?

That's true. I wish more people got that idea. And the listening part is a lot harder than it looks.

I also don't think you have a hard time communicating or connecting. You can't be friends with everyone nor do I think you'd want to.

  2. Nope. I sure wouldn't want to be friends with everyone. In fact, there are only a handful of people with whom I feel that connection (I hope it goes without saying that you're one of those people). It's an interesting exercise to try to figure out what characteristics tend to get my attention or cause me to want to run in the opposite direction.

Or maybe I just REALLY don't want to fold laundry.

I loved that line of the article, too.
