- Tomorrow is C's birthday party. She turns 12 on Sunday. I'm having a little trouble accepting that.
- I bought some new natural/non-toxic/sensitive skin formula deodorant. When I wear it and I sweat I smell like cat pee. Upside? People tend to get out of my way in the Express Lane at the grocery store.
- I went to Tasty Harmony (raw food restaurant) for lunch with a friend today. The food and the conversation were delightful. The lump of sprouted-garbanzo hummus stuck in my throat is not.
- We got an estimate to lay sod in our backyard last night. It was $1690. I called another place this morning. It was $800. Both made me gasp a little but I can't imagine what was $890 better about place number one and place number 2. Me? I'm beginning to think grass is overrated. Kids love dirt, right?
- I got a consulting job offer. I'm finding it hard to refuse. It has to be done by the end of September. The $$ is good. I need to say no. I really really do. Anxiety...
- I'm tired of snow. Rain I can live with - snow needs to stop.
- These are delicious. I like them with some melted smoked mozzarella and tons of arugula. I don't want any right now. That hummus isn't budging.
- I drank coffee today. This didn't help items 1, 2, or 5 a bit.
- R and C have a piano recital on Sunday. I'm supposed to make cookies. I wish I could find some kind of cookie that tastes good to everyone else but turns me off. Did I mention that I made peanut butter brownies (from Smitten Kitchen, minus the ganache... you know, cuz I'm a health nut) this week. I nibbled a little but didn't dive in face first. Yay me. Cookies may be my undoing. Remind me why I want to abandon my fat pants?
- Can you feel the PMS radiating off the computer screen?

Yes, 12 is a tough one...Happy Day to all of you in your celebrating!!
ReplyDeleteD has major deodorant issues, he is allergic to most....hence dealing with the smells you are describing, some of the more natural deo's have made him smell worse than wearing nothing--uugh, the challenges we live with!! He refuses to smell, so he deals with the major itching and hives. :(
Call D about sod, he has a TON of contacts and may be able to help you, also with any other landscaping you may need, remember....this is the industry he deals with every day.
I also need to catch you up an a new venture we are approaching, it is a crazy life!!
D's # is 3.709.3501.
Sorry about not getting back to you about Thurs, I couldn't work it out....sooner or later, we will get together.

Oh yeah! Landscaping!! D! I'll call him. Perhaps a side job? Think about it... I want to hear about the new venture. I'm sure we'll get together soon.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Miss C! Wish I was there to celebrate with you! (Oh, wait, I think I'd be celebrating with you mom but you get the picture - me, keeping her occupied so you could have fun with your friends...)....
ReplyDeleteI'm going to take up laying sod. I need a new career anyway...
New job you say? Hmm... what was the reason you stopped doing the other one? Just remember that - though your hubby (the wise man that he is) might have a good answer to your anxiety. Talk to him, he very rarely steers you wrong.
Damn cookies and they're ooey, gooey goodness. I'm hating cookies ('cause I can't do up my shorts).
Well... hop on a plane! I need some sod-laying assistance. Perhaps it could help with the shorts-closing problem, too. (Who am I kidding? We'd end up at Pappy's undoing all that hard work with Coronas and chips and salsa.)
ReplyDeleteSo true about the hubby. I know I need to turn it down. My fear is that people will stop asking. Of course, that may be the ultimate goal. I think I'm still running in fear of the glazed-over response to my "SAHM" status.
Of course, I find the pursuit of a perfect Swiss buttercream no less valuable than the interminable spreadsheeting that fills my current pseudo job. In fact, I know I would get far more kudos for my dessert skill than I ever have for my data analysis skills.
Justify much, Robin? Ack! Help me, oh semi-sane SAHMs!!?!
Oh, we're not sane. Nope. How can we be?! Today I got up at 5:30. Drove to the airport (no coffee). Came home slept for an hour - was told by e. that I slept the day away. *sigh*. Made a yummy egg breakfast. Went to Walmart, the dollar store and Michaels in search of the perfect birdhouses. fed children, again. Diffused a bomb (or two). cleaned up dog pee. cleaned up dog poo. cleaned up dog puke. put the kids to bed. showered. yelled at kids to get to bed. cleaned up more dog puke. drank beer.
ReplyDeleteThere's no sanity left. None. We will help you survive. But honestly I wouldn't change it for the world...
