"Meh" aka hot, dry gardening days

It's that time of year. The garden is a little past its prime. Everything's begging for a thorough deadheading. The grass is crispy. The vegetable garden is complaining about only getting watered once a day. The weeds are thriving and the birds are pissed off at me for being so remiss in filling the basin of the bird bath. There will be another flush of beauty as the weather cools down... patience is not my strong suit. Time to get out there and get to work.

The bumblebees aren't minding the scraggly garden. The whole border is humming.

The gooseberries tell me to get over it, too. Aren't they a pretty color? I really ought to pick them before the raccoons beat me to it. One more item for today's list...
