Antsy

I've been zipping around from task to task today and I can't get in a groove. I feel like I drank a bunch of coffee on an empty stomach (but I didn't). Therefore, no surprise that any attempts to write a coherent (a term I clearly use VERY loosely around here) blog post have been unsuccessful.

At least the path of muddy footprints (and pawprints) throughout the main level of the house are history. I showered. The kids got to school. Some simulations are running. The envelope of "Important" test scores from R's teacher have been opened. Not-so-shocking revelations: R is verbally gifted (and I don't just mean he knows how to use "buttmunch" as a verb, noun, adjective, and adverb in a sentence). R is quantitatively average (**gasp**). He's an 8B (Q-) learner.
That's just what I thought when he was born... "I think we'll call him 8BQ-". Normally, I would scan the sheet and go on with my day but today I decided I would actually go to the URL on the score report and try to figure out what it all meant. I could paste the entire report including phrases like "strong cognitive resources" and "marked deficit in computation" and "achievement patterns make it clear that a relatively lower score in quantitative reasoning abilities has a broad impact on the achievement of these above-average students" but instead I'll summarize: his math skills aren't as good as his verbal or reasoning skills. I guess we'll brush up on arithmetic.

So there it is... exciting post for the day. I'm happy to report that my new bras will be arriving this week, somewhere nearby there's a family of raccoons with extra fresh breath (as evidenced by the disappearance of Coke-foamed Mentos from the driveway overnight), and K and I both slept like very tired babies in our newly blackified bedroom last night.
