Hello, ladies!
As I mentioned before, I've settled into a fashion (rut) routine of jeans, black t-shirts, and fuzzy slippers. It's very sexy. I know what you're thinking... K's a lucky man.
True dat.
Here's the problem. I realized (several months ago) that it's time for some new bras. The only bra I've ever loved is the Warner's 1344 Sleek Underneath Underwire Contour Bra. I am down to my last two and they're falling apart (to their credit, I have had them for about 3 years and although it doesn't quite take a village to raise my fed-3-babies-for-longer-than-I-care-to-admit D-cup cleavage, it does take some serious engineering, powerful lycra, well-padded underwires, and nip-smoothing technology). I came to find out (this morning) that my beloved 1344's have been discontinued. Whimper. Luckily, I found some on closeout and bought a small fortune's worth of t-shirt-worthy boulder-holders.
Then, I decided to go get dressed for my every-friday math groups in A's class. I went to put on one of my trusty Old Navy Perfect Fit t-shirts and realized it was shot, too. It was all stretched-out and fading. Rrrgh. The problem is, they changed their t-shirt fabric over at Old Navy this year and what was once a great-fitting, lumpandbump-smoothing t-shirt is now a practically see-through, cling in all the wrong places, ill-fitting nightmare. So, I'm on the lookout for a new (~$10 / shirt) source for black (and possibly, someday, other colors) t-shirts. Any suggestions?
I don't even want to talk about how I might overreact if Old Navy messes with my Sweetheart Tall Boot-Cut Jeans in dark authentic wash (which, by the way, have been out of stock online in anything bigger than a size 8 for a couple of months now and I'm not gonna lie, I'm getting nervous that change is afoot). Did I mention that Brooks had better not screw around with the sizing or structure of their running shoes, either? I'd have to commandeer the playroom to store my lifetime backstock of boring clothing. Imagine that coming out in the kids' future therapy sessions... not good.
I could just be flexible and change with the times... you know, embrace the tides of fashion and go out shopping. I could but I won't. Have you gotten undressed in a fluorescent-lit, pounding-music filled, perfume-sample smelling, waiflike teen-staffed clothing store lately? Thanks... I can think of plenty of far more entertaining things I could do to make me feel that awful about myself in the morning....
Always good are the Target tshirts. Though not long lasting (we shouldn't kid ourselves, tshirts do NOT last forever - or a year) they do wear nicely and are usually inexpensive. If you're looking for something a bit more grown-up (oh, behave!) you might want to take a jaunt into Talbots... yes, I know, it's what your mother wears (okay, not your mother and not my mother but someones...). They're quite nice, shapely and a lovely fabric to boot. A might bit expensive but that's the cost of growing up.
ReplyDeleteIf you can't bring yourself to do any other those things then might I suggest layering your Old Navy's? Buy a bunch in a lighter colour and wear them under/over another colour. Apparently layering was in last year. I think glittering tights and bad plaid is in this year and I shutter to think we might wear that... ick.
Happy Shopping. I'll say a prayer for you. I'm currently in Andy's long sleeved aeropostale shirt and my old yoga pants. I'm pretty sure that disqualifies me from giving any fashion advice whatsoever.
Target, Talbots, layering -- check! I think I'll leave the glittery tights and plaid to you (or maybe Lindsey Lohan) but you never know, I might jump on the bandwagon...
ReplyDeleteSince when were there qualifications to be a fashion consultant? Maybe oversized t-shirts and yoga pants are the new black...
