Friday - Tuesday

Friday was great. No one was in school. Everyone played well together. There were no (zero! none!) petty arguments among siblings. We went to the book store, the kids picked quickly (seriously, it can take hours sometimes for them to choose a book), and they were all in a rush to get home and start reading. We went to Whole Foods for lunch and everyone found something they wanted to eat and my pickiest child, R, even tried some new foods. I was waiting for the other shoe to drop but things continued to go well through a long swim practice and barely hiccuped during Mr. K and me growling at each other over getting the house clean for his parents' visit on Saturday. It was one of those days that resembled my fantasy of parenthood before I had children (except no one was speaking a foreign language and I still had back fat).

Saturday was fine.

Sunday was a music-filled day. C had a lesson and an ensemble rehearsal in the morning and a youth orchestra concert in the afternoon at a really lovely stone church in Greeley. One of C's friends from elementary school and his family came to listen - it was super nice of them to make the drive! While C and I were in Greeley, Mr. K and A had a daddy-daughter day while R played 'til he dropped at a friend's house.

On Monday, we drove to Denver to tour the U.S. Mint. It was an adventure in "Homeland Security" but worth the invasions of privacy nonetheless. The kids got various old coins and collectibles and Mr. K and I survived paying big bucks for parking. Then, we went to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science to see the pirate exhibit. It was great. I highly recommend it. It was pricey for us and we're members, so plan on shelling out some dough if you go. It was a good thing Friday was bicker-free because Monday was a doozy. Too much togetherness, perhaps? We drove home through Longmont so we could stop at Wahoo's (day = instantly better) and got home just as the in-car turmoil hit a fever pitch. Then, A had a swim lesson.

Tuesday started with a trip to the dentist for R and A. R got a filling replaced and A had 5 teeth pulled in the name of future orthodontic success. Guess who complained more... R went to school after a little downtime and potato chips and A stayed home to watch Cake Boss and draw pictures of turtles. After school, C had a routine orthodontic check-up that ended with setting an appointment for another round of braces. These are times that try men's savings accounts. Looks like we figured out what C will be getting for her (right around the corner) 13th birthday!

So today, finally, I have a quiet house and no reason not to finish up some projects. It's go time. Time for the pedal to hit the medal. No time like the present. Go team! Oof... all that typing made me tired.
