Mile 25

OK, so I've never actually attempted a marathon (in the classic, you know... running sense) BUT the last several weeks of a school year (five, to be exact) always make me feel a little bit like the incomparable Dennis:

My calendar for the rest of this month and all of May is nothing short of daunting (and this is after I made a pledge to myself to simplify things a bit this year). I don't think I have any more going on than the typical (is there such a thing?) mother of 3 - and I might even have less - but I can't tell you how excited I am to see June roll around.

If you haven't yet had children and are throwing around the possibility of a May baby, think again... because really, good luck scheduling a birthday celebration (a 13th, no less!) in mid-May.

I know, I know... bitch bitch bitch, whine, whine, whine. I'm sure I'll gush about the emerging plants and warm afternoons soon enough but I went out today to check out the garden progress after an night of rain and everything smelled not-so-faintly of rotting fish. I can't be sure what it is but I'd guess it has something to do with newly-disturbed soil (sprinkler system install) or else I pissed off some raccoons (or you know, neighbors) and they decided to hide dead fish under the mulch. Either way, no me gusta.
