1. Pandora radio - This little gem has gotten me through many a loooooong day of spreadsheet work. I've discovered lots of new music through Pandora.
2. Fabprefab - This is the answer to that age old question posed by the Barenaked Ladies...
If I had a million dollars... (and didn't mind tripping over my kids and all their stuff...)
I'd buy up the next lot that becomes available in my neighborhood and put up an eco-friendly prefab house.
3. Toast - Because I look at clothes and home goods mostly without any consideration of my actual body shape or any other pesky practicalities...
4. Sundance - See #3.
5. Colorado Inmate-Trained Dogs - (click on K9 companions on the lower left-hand side of the screen) I'm a little obsessed with the thought of getting a dog. Considering we have a cat with a peeing problem, we already tried with a rescue dog several years ago and it went after my then-3-year-old son and had to go to live in a non-kid household, and my husband, K, is no great lover of dogs to begin with, this may be as close as I get to that dream. Even so, I love the idea of taking neglected or abandoned dogs and putting them in the care of inmates who take the time (because, let's face it, that's something they have in excess) to train and socialize them prior to adoption. It seems like a win-win.
6. Flickr - How great is it to have a place where you can search for "green door" and get 56,857 hits? Try typing in something really ridiculous. You'll be amazed. It's also a great source of inspiration.
7. IKEA - Colorado does not have an IKEA store. There it is - I said it. We're supposedly getting one next year and when that happens we will finally be able to count ourselves among the people who can just drive on down -- one day, no hotel stay - and buy Expedit, Poang, Malm, and Akurum to our heart's content. Until that day, I am officially a poser in the "cheap and chic" home decor game. I have nary a piece of IKEA.
8. Epicurious - What to do when you have a bumper crop of chard and suddenly realize "Why did I grow all this chard? It's going to take me a year to choke down all this roughage."
9. Etsy - Absolutely the best place to look for a unique gift (too bad your birthday's passed us by, T), great kid's dress, or new throw pillow to spice up the living room.
10. The clearance "home" section of Urban Outfitters - So much odd stuff but the occasional gem.
Although I numbered these, I'm realizing now that they are not at all "in order of preference" and I could probably add another 10 (or 20)... No wonder my house is rarely clean enough for company and the laundry only occasionally gets put away!
You'll notice there aren't any blogs in the "self help" category. Really, who reads that crap for fun? I've got plenty of work to do on myself (a lifetime, I'm told) but I don't have much time to think about that right now and when I do have a little more time (?) I'm still not sure I'll feel like reading about how screwed up my life is in the eyes of Dr. Phil. Random rant. Sorry.
