How about the house? We moved in 3 1/2 years ago and were immediately confronted with the true depths of our blinded-by-a-little-acreage delusion. Don't get me wrong, we've loved this place since the first moment we moved in with ourselves, our 3 kids, and various pets.It was fleshy pink.
Strangely enough, the vintage 1967 bathrooms (make no mistake... I love me some sparkly formica and pink toilets... it's what - think about things that grow in perpetually warm, wet places - was under said fabulousness that gave me pause) aren't what I struggled with - it was the strange not-quite-big-enough-to-use circle drive and the hornet-infested "turd" of trees and shrubs out front that had me up at night.
You see, I should confess from the very beginning that I am a full-tilt garden junkie. I make no claims to superiority (well, not too many, at least) in that realm - I just love the process. Digging is my therapy, compost is my co-pilot, perennials are my peeps. That turd had to go. I needed my hardy roses and my irises, a patch of green grass, and my often-dreamed-of peeled pole fence.
So, as of the end of last growing season.... ta da!
More to come.....
