A college-age "dude" now has a really cool mountain bike for a really fair price. A grandpa, shell-shocked by the reality of now raising his grandbaby, got a great bike trailer with money left over to buy grandma some flowers on the way home. We have a nice fistfull of cash that we intend to spend as frivolously as we want. We also have a-bike-and-a-Burley's-worth of free space in the garage!
Next, K, plans to exploit the hipster market and convert his classic road bike frame and jumble of goodies from his spare parts drawer(s) into a fixed gear bike. Perhaps he'll spend the proceeds on an argyle sweater to wear while he rides. Perhaps not. It's almost like his cycling habit has turned into a cash cow! Almost.
In other news, I may have finally realized that I'm not going to get a cargo bike. I think I'll go for a regular old townie instead. A is "this close" to learning how to ride her bike so it doesn't make much sense to plan on her needing me to pedal her to school in the fall. (cue "Sunrise, Sunset")
I'm looking at a Gary Fisher Simple City 3M (cuz girls bikes look dorky), a Kronan classic or possibly I'll get a plain ol', not-trying-to-be-a-Dutch-city-bike touring bike...
Or maybe I'll walk the kids to school until the right answer grabs me. Looks like life is pretty simple behind the green door right about now.
