The first egg of the season. My friend Sam got this group of chicks on Easter and raised them until they were ready to go in the coop.It took nearly 5 months but they'll be starting to earn their keep again.
There really is no egg like a fresh-from-the-chicken egg.
I like to imagine what the chickens are thinking as they lay an egg and we come out and take it:
Hen 1: Another one of those hard, tan things came out of my butt this morning.
Hen 2: You really ought to get that checked out!
Hen 1: That's not the strangest part.
Hen 2: What could be stranger than a hard tan thing coming out of your butt?
Hen 1: The humans.
Hen 2: True that.
Hen 1: They pick up the things, look all proud and take them into the house.
Hen 2: Next you're going to tell me they eat them (chicken chuckle).
Hen 1: That's just gross. I'm going to see if I can find any bugs to eat in that piece of sheep poo over there. Wanna come?
And scene.
Awesome looking egg! Loved the commentary... sad but true... we humans are pathetic (don't you wonder what the COWS are thinking?)
