And not in the "too much credit card debt" kind of way (although that is scary, too). Today, I got a call from my credit card company to tell me that they suspected a fraudulent charge on my card. I got online, checked my transaction history and there it was... $430 in gas, on my card, in Alabama.
I have my cards in my possession and they were replaced only 6 weeks ago because of a security breach somewhere that "may have compromised" my credit card number. K's card had to be replaced a month before that because of a fraudulent charge.
I appreciate that the credit card companies seem to be quick to recognize fraud and that they have (thus far) reversed the charges so all it has cost us is some inconvenience and slight terror over the security of our personal information.
I would go back to checks but they're fraught with risk, too. Have you heard about check washers? Really, who raised these people.
Cash isn't practical for everything.
Forgive the whining. I wish there was a foolproof way to safeguard personal and financial information.
