Can't shut up today.
Must have something to do with how much I need to accomplish. Can you say avoidance?
So, on Tuesday, I, along with a friend of the family, took the girls to the annual lighting of a big ol' Christmas tree outside the Presbyterian Church. I thought, 'hey, that might help to bring out my inner figgy pudding'
Now, I was aware that the event was sponsored by Realities for Children, a great organization that goes all-out to help abused and neglected children in northern Colorado. There were cookies, hot drinks, even some soup from Qdoba that smelled really good. There was live music, singing that ranged from 'meh' to 'ooh' and a nice chilly evening that brought out a little pa rum pum pum pum in my hardened heart. At the end of the event, just before (finally) lighting the tree, they decided to break with tradition and play a new song as they lit the lights.
Mind you, I was ready to mail my donation (and I probably still will because I'm a softie) when this came on over the loud speaker:
DEAR MR JESUS - Little girl
*whoosh* went the small dose of Christmas spirit that had made its way into my body.
Merry Guiltsmas, one and all!
