What to buy for a 40-something man...

...who has simple (but not inexpensive) needs.

1. Bikeable weather year-round (for all of our sake).

2. Things with little red lights on them that respond, like magic (!), to a remote control and do thrilling, thrilling things like play movies! play music! turn on a whole battery of speakers with the touch of a button!

3. Things with spokes. Really, really expensive things with spokes.

4. Chocolate. Good, good chocolate. Or mediocre chocolate. Really any chocolate except milk chocolate. And no white chocolate. That's not chocolate.

5. Foods that can be made with any combination of tortillas, beans, cheese, and salsa. Occasionally add eggs, potatoes, and chiles.

6. O'dell's Brewery Five Barrel or 90 Schilling

7. Skillet Apple Pie with vanilla ice cream.

8. Music.

9. A quiet fan for our Dimension E521.

10. See "What to get for an 8-year-old boy" entry number 10.
