Oh, what would we do without you? You are just crunchy enough to appeal to my inner hippie, just foofoo enough to appeal to my inner snob, and just delicious enough (really really delicious) to appeal to my well-developed love of food. This morning, you inspired my incredibly picky son to eat an entire meal - cheese omelet, toast, and even a few potatoes. True, A stared suspiciously at your granola and, in the end, consumed nothing more than lemonade and brown sugar but it's not your fault, dear Rainbow - it's not you, it's her. C has a long-term, well-developed relationship with your omelets and fried potatoes and for some reason, your milk is irresistible while all other milk is just plain ordinary. I guess that's how love is.
Although my personal relationship with you started with cinnamon iced tea and miso dressing, lately I've been cheating on both with your fabulous Groatmeal. Fruit, oatmeal, apples, strawberries, bananas, dried cranberries, almonds, and granola on top... can you blame me?
You welcome sweaty spandex-clad middle-aged cyclists, rowdy children, and even a few snobby people in their Sunday best staring down their noses at said cyclists and children.
C and I have strengthened our relationship over breakfast almost weekly for the last year. Some of my best times in our lovely town have been spent on your patio, and your dining room has been the site of many a deep conversation with friends, family, and co-workers.
Don't ever change. Don't ever close. Don't ever stop serving miso dressing. I need you.
Call me.
Good times have been had at the Rainbow - how I miss the tea... oh, and the great conversation!
