Super movie you probably didn't see

We have this new Roku thing that allows us to watch movies instantly via our NetFlix account. I'm enjoying watching the kids chill out to endless episodes of Kipper (I L-O-V-E Kipper) and I'm getting to see movies I may have missed as they passed through (or didn't make it to) our local multiplexes.

Today C and I watched Phoebe in Wonderland. It was great. I saw a little bit of myself in the mom's semi-psychotic rant while raking leaves. I'm not sure I'm proud of that...

C thought it was good, not exactly happy but "weirdly honest" - and let me tell you, C knows honest (and weird) when she sees it.

The movie raises many questions. I don't know how, as parents, we are supposed to draw the line between preventing our kids from being "labeled" and accepting "names" for our kids' peculiarities that might help them be better understood by whatever part of the establishment they might encounter.

Gifted? Delayed? Chatty? Twice gifted? ADHD? "Careful worker"? "Delight to have in class"? E, S, S+, M, P, R? Kick ass terrific kid who maybe is just a little obsessed with Star Wars and doesn't like Rugelach? "Visual processing capability off the charts"?

Are we supposed to take it personally?
