Let me preface this by saying the reason I haven't been paying attention to the house is because I've been paying attention to the kids (+ some cousins and friends-of-kids) and trying to get a presentation together for a conference out of town next week. I was more successful with the kids than the presentation...
The garden took on a whole new hue. The summer-bloomers tend to be more vibrant than the early-season stars. I love yarrows of all kinds - this year they're especially high on my list because of their hail resilience. The Shasta daisies are just getting started, too. They usually spend the summer half-wilted due to my sometimes lax watering habits but this year, mother nature has taken care of that!
The windowboxes are finally taking off, and the sweet autumn clematis and Cascade hops are starting to climb in earnest.
The sheep and the potatoes are enjoying the sun and moisture.
The raccoons have been having dance parties in the mud puddle by the bridge over the irrigation ditch. The chickens have gone from "peep peep" to "bock bocka" -- I expect an egg any day.
My latest set of computer simulations just ended. Back to the presentation! Tomorrow is R's birthday. He will be 8 when I hug him in the morning. That's just crazy!
