Another generation learns the pachanga...

On Sunday night, as C and I were well into the nighttime decline that accompanies whatever-this-annoying-butt-kicking-illness-might-be, looking for something decent to watch on TV when lo and behold... Dirty Dancing!!

It was a hip-swiveling, Baby-envying good time. K even tried to watch with us for a few minutes but he deemed it to be "beyond my male capacity to enjoy this movie" - his loss, I say!

Now, C will head off into her life looking for a heart-of-gold bad boy who can dance (and is straight). Good luck to her.

Time to watch some more movies starring Michael Cera - nerdy, not bad looking, sweet kid who has a sort of inexplicable sex appeal. That's something that can be found in this world with just a bit of effort to see beyond an obsession with Monty Python, a collection of Star Wars figurines, or a standing weekly Dungeons and Dragons group.

  1. A few years ago I borrowed Dirty Dancing from the library so that the teenager and I could watch it. She last about halfway through the movie then told me she was disgusted with the movie. And couldn't belive I would let her watch a movie full of pornography and promots abortion!

I would love to be able to tell you that she still is a prude but though she wouldn't watch DD with me (she wouldn't watch anything with me) I am sure if there was a modern good version she would watch it with her friends.

  2. I'm sure, in time, she'll come back around and want to spend all kinds of time with you again.

I am just thankful for every day of open communication that remain between C and I before she retreats into her silent teenager phase.
