I love mowing the lawn

I love being outside, hearing the birds (we have an electric mower so I can actually hear the birds chirp while I mow), watching the relative chaos of our far-from-even weedy backyard emerge behind the mower as nice, even, seemingly well-cared-for turf. I count the lawn among the most satisfying chores I do in a week (OK, maybe every two weeks when I'm letting things slide as I have been lately). I might even enjoy mowing the pasture. I won't ever find out because, let's face it, men love their lawn tractors and I wouldn't want to take that away from K.

I still need to do the front yard, cut back some of the very past their prime perennials in the front border, and tackle the weeds out front as well. For now, I'll enjoy the "Cha cha cha cha chika chika chika chika" of the impact sprinkler out back. I love Fall and I can feel it in the air. Soon, we'll be overcome with the task of raking leaves (the one time of year I wish we didn't have so many trees - we're actually getting two taken out next week due to some prior damage) and figuring out what to do with all of them once we do... our compost pile runneth over!

I also need to do some dishes. I don't love doing the dishes. I haven't found a way to wax romantic about scrubbing dried grits off of the whisk or trying to get every nook and cranny of the food processor bowl free of food particles. Please stage an intervention if I ever do.
